Stellenbosch Network in partnership with Ranyaka, SCAN, SU LaunchLab, Stellenbosch University and the Department of Science & Innovation’s Regional Innovation Support Programme (RISP) are proud to present the 2024 edition of the #Ideasforchange Challenge.
Our world, cities, towns and communities are being impacted by issues such as poverty, climate change, food security, rapid urbanisation, scarcity of resources and increasing rates of inequality. All industries are now facing the prospect of developing innovative solutions to these challenges and are seeking people with the relevant skills and attitudes to work in these challenging environments.
The Stellenbosch Social Innovation Challenge aims to harness the power of innovation to tackle pressing social issues affecting the community of Stellenbosch. By bringing together diverse minds and expertise, we seek to develop sustainable, innovative solutions that improve the quality of life for all residents.
For this challenge we are focussing on two specific, pressing problems in Stellenbosch:
1. Crime & Safety
2. Infrastructure (Traffic, Transport, and Mobility)
We are calling on you – the people of Stellenbosch – to vote on which idea you think deserves to win!
This years’ finalists are:
– Chiedza Vushe: ScamAlert
– Luke van Wyk: MinibusMat(i)e
